PUBLICATION ETHICS

Publication Ethics, Plagiarism policy, and Publication Process of Perspectives In Medical Research Journal

The publication of a peer reviewed journal requires continuous work, responsibility, liability and collaboration from all involved parties that include authors, reviewers, and editorial board members. The editors have the responsibility of keeping/monitoring the publishing ethics and maintaining the academic record. The Editorial Board takes the responsibility of checking all the articles for fraudulent data or plagiarism. The editorial team’s goal is to maintain the publication at the highest possible standards and maintain good quality, and originality of the submitted research articles. The Editorial and reviewer boards in combination are responsible for suggesting necessary corrections, clarifications for improving the manuscripts. It is also the responsibility of editorial board to publish retractions and apologies as an erratum regularly. We appreciate the contributions of every involved party to the work that we publish. We consider plagiarism as a case in which a submitted paper reproduces another work with at least 25% similarity and without due citation.

For Authors

All submitted papers are subject to double blind peer review process by at least two expert (national or international) reviewers. The rejected articles will not be encouraged for re-reviewing unless the manuscript is corrected taking into consideration all suggestions made by the editorial/reviewer team. All the papers will be first checked by anti-plagiarism software before being approved for reviewing. Authors should provide all sources of data used in the research. Plagiarism in all its forms is unethical and it is unacceptable. Authors should provide revised version of their article, according to the reviewers' recommendations.

Authors must ensure that the submitted article is their original work, which has not been previously submitted, or published as a full paper elsewhere (Except as an abstract). Authors should state that all data in the paper are real and authentic. Post publication, it is the responsibility of authors to report any errors in their published paper to the Journal.

For Reviewers

Reviewers should treat all manuscripts they receive for reviewing as a confidential document. Reviewers should carefully evaluate the manuscript of its scientific quality and can suggest relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Reviewers need to be only objective, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper. Reviewers should inform the editors on any substantial similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers

For Editors

Editors decide which of the articles submitted to the journal should be forwarded to further review process. They are responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication. Editors should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. Editors/Chief Editor will take in to consideration, reviewers comments to make the editorial decisions. It is the responsibility of Editors to make sure all submitted articles are adequately peer reviewed before being accepted for publication. Editors should have a clear picture of a research's funding sources.

The ICMJE Criteria for authorship

The ICMJE recommends that authorship be based on criteria that include each author makes substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work. Each listed author must be involved in drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content. All enlisted authors should give the final approval before being published.

All those designated as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, and all who meet the four criteria should be identified as authors. Those who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged. In addition to being accountable for the parts of the work he or she has done, the submitting author should be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for specific parts of the work. In addition, authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their co-authors

If evidence of plagiarism is found before the paper is sent for peer review, the author will be offered a chance for rebuttal. If the arguments are not found to be satisfactory, the manuscript will not be further considered.

PIMR Publishing Process

After receiving a manuscript, the journal editor screens the manuscript for plagiarism. Further each submitted paper will be undergoing a preliminary evaluation by the respective subject editor. The journal editor then decides the future of the paper. The editor decides either to send the manuscript for double peer-review to at least two reviewers, sends it back to the author, if the manuscript has not met minimum journal submission criteria, or very rarely calls for rejection without a peer review.

While manuscript has to go through double peer review process in order to be published, they can be rejected without peer review to improve/maintain the quality of journal. Rejection before a peer review is mostly in cases where the article in question is having content out of the scope of journal, articles not adhering to journal style, format or guidelines.

Papers are also rejected in case of detection of duplication/plagiarism, or large overlap with previously published research work. All articles with superficial or limited interest to the journal target audience are also rejected. The Journal editorial board decides what to publish. After the peer review has been completed, the author(s) of the article will be notified about the reviewers' comments. It is the responsibility of submitting authors to modify their submission in line with the editorial/reviewer comments.

The Review Decisions by the Editors include acceptance as it is, suggest minor modifications before being accepted, needs major modifications before being accepted, rejected with a chance to re-submit, or completely reject the paper. Post acceptance all manuscripts are copy edited and Typesetting is performed to ensure the uniformity, conformation to the journal's style, referencing, and that there are no spelling or grammatical errors. It also ensures the appearance of the article layouts, fonts, and headings etc., both for print and online publication. All papers are then sent to the authors for proof reading and final approval.

Authors at this stage are allowed to make only minor corrections and extensive rewriting, making substantial additions/deletions, are strongly discouraged
